Job summary

Cardinal Health is seeking a Cloud Database Engineer to support WaveMark Solutions, a healthcare SaaS platform. You will own reliability, uptime, performance, security, automation, and disaster recovery for cloud databases while collaborating with software and IT teams to improve observability and delivery practices.

The role requires expertise in Oracle databases in regulated environments, cloud platforms, and strong scripting and automation skills.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
5+ years of experience managing production Oracle databases in a regulated healthcare environment preferred.
Experience with Oracle database administration and cloud platforms such as AWS RDS or GCP preferred.
Knowledge of database automation, scripting, and deployment processes preferred.
Familiarity with observability frameworks and telemetry-driven operations preferred.
Knowledge of site reliability engineering principles (SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, automated remediation) preferred.
Working knowledge of CI/CD platforms and Infrastructure as Code preferred.
Understanding of healthcare compliance standards such as HIPAA, FedRAMP, or HITRUST preferred.
Familiarity with CDC technologies and Kubernetes-based environments preferred.
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills preferred.

Responsibilities

Administer Oracle (primary), MySQL, and PostgreSQL databases in managed cloud environments.
Build and manage monitoring, auditing, logging, and alerting systems to track database health.
Establish and maintain operational standards, documentation, and runbooks.
Support application deployments and database releases.
Analyze and optimize database performance across environments.
Perform root cause analysis of performance incidents.
Design and automate database refresh processes between production and non-production.
Design and implement data masking for non-production environments.
Collaborate with security, compliance, and application teams to support audits.
Partner with security teams to enhance data governance, patching, and access controls.
Partner with development teams to modernize deployment automation and data movement architectures.
Design and test backup, restore, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.
