Job summary

Kentro is seeking a Mid-Level Data Engineer to support secure cloud data and AI initiatives for government customers. You will build governed data pipelines, automate cloud tasks, and deliver well-documented solutions. Remote within the United States with Eastern Time hours.

Requirements include 3–5 years in data engineering, strong Python/SQL, Databricks, and Git. Ideal candidates have Azure, Terraform, and Delta Lake experience and a commitment to secure, auditable data practices.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of relevant data engineering or related discipline.
• Hands-on Python or comparable language proficiency.
• SQL with joins, aggregations, and data validation.
• Experience designing or supporting data pipelines, schemas, and APIs.
• Working knowledge of Git and code review processes.
• Ability to document work and create runbooks for repeatability.
• Demonstrated ownership, learning agility, and clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain batch and API data workflows.
• Write Python, PySpark, and SQL for processing and validation.
• Build and manage Databricks workflows and governed data products.
• Implement layered data designs (Bronze/Silver/Gold) and quality checks.
• Develop IaC with Terraform and environment-specific configs.
• Support Azure data-platform services and secure connectivity.
• Deliver changes through Git, PRs, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Troubleshoot data, code, access, and deployment issues.
• Contribute to AI-enabled data workflows and model endpoints.
• Create architecture docs, runbooks, and handoff notes.
• Communicate progress, risks, and blockers promptly.
