Job summary

Parkland Health seeks a Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist (CDIS) to apply clinical knowledge and CPT/ICD-10 coding to in-house records, optimize physician documentation, and educate providers and staff. The role conducts pre/post DRG data tracking, works with the care team, and exercises expert judgment with minimal guidance.

This position is 100% virtual for Parkland, requiring strong communication skills, group teaching ability, and expertise in medical terminology and coding

Qualifications

• Must hold a nursing degree from an accredited college or university.
• Master's degree in a healthcare/medical field from an U.S. college or university.
• Graduated from an accredited Health Information Management coding program.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with the care team to identify diagnoses and procedures for DRG/diagnostic coding.
• Performs concurrent reviews on inpatient admissions and documents findings in CDIS software.
• Communicates with physicians and staff to clarify documentation as needed.
• Develops query response material and maintains patient confidentiality.
• Delivers in-services to physician and ancillary staff.
• Work is 100% virtual and follows Parkland information/resource policies.
