Job summary

Transwestern is seeking a Client Accountant to perform daily property accounting duties for assigned Properties, including financial reporting, accruals, and reconciliations. The role uses MRI/Yardi software and requires ensuring SOC1 controls and owner agreements are followed, with collaboration across property management and accounting teams.

The position supports monthly operating reports, annual budgets, and owner distributions, with emphasis on accuracy and timely reporting.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree with emphasis in accounting, finance or related field preferred.
• A minimum of 2-3 years of recent fee-based property management accounting experience.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting concepts.
• Experience with budget reporting and annual budgeting processes.
• Experience with real estate accounting software (MRI/Yardi) is preferred.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel and Adobe; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial reports and run accrual and cash journal entries.
• Review operating statements, variance reports and bank reconciliations.
• Process accounts payable batches and review, post and escalate as needed.
• Monitor cash balances and assist in owner distributions.
• Coordinate with property management to meet reporting deadlines (monthly/annual).
• Maintain documentation of monthly financial reporting packages and reconciliations.
• Communicate with auditors and internal stakeholders as required.
• Assist in close of books and preparation of monthly management reporting package.
