Job summary

TRISTAR Insurance Group is seeking a Claims Assistant for a temporary, fully remote role based in Milwaukee, WI. Under close supervision you will perform clerical and data-entry tasks to support workers’ compensation claims, communicating with claimants, attorneys, and internal staff.

Responsibilities include setting up new claims, processing benefit and medical payments, preparing letters and notices, and maintaining accurate claim files.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, and one year of experience in the workers’ compensation claims industry (preferred).
• Proficient keyboarding (45 wpm) and Word skills.
• Experience with medical/legal terminology is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sets up new claims in system and paper files, ensuring documentation is present and correct.
• Prepares, schedules, and processes benefit and medical payments on claims files as directed.
• Documents all work in the electronic claim file.
• Prepares letters, notices, and labels.
• Provides clerical support (filing, faxing, photocopying).
• Communicates claim information to clients, counsel, providers, and staff.
• Answers phones and messages as needed.
