Job summary

MIEC in Oakland, CA seeks experienced claims professionals for Claims Analyst, Claims & Patient Safety Specialist, or Senior Claims & Patient Safety Specialist roles. You’ll open, investigate, manage, and resolve incident and claim files for policyholders while advancing patient safety and risk management.

Responsibilities include evaluating coverage, coordinating discovery, preparing documentation, and developing settlement strategies.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of experience in medical professional liability claims.
• Minimum seven years for specialist track; ten years for senior.
• CPHRM designation preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Respond to first notice of potential claims from policyholders and provide appropriate guidance.
• Collaborate to identify coverage issues and develop resolution strategies.
• Obtain and review records, coordinate discovery, monitor file status.
• Prepare documentation and correspondence with policyholders, claimants, and attorneys.
• Open/close files and manage reserves and case status.
• Exercise judgment in settling cases and recommend indemnity and expense reserves.
• Study trends in the medical malpractice industry and share insights across the department.
• Participate in seminars, trainings, and Board meetings.
