Job summary

Orbital Engineering Inc. is seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Designer for a remote role, supporting multi-discipline projects in heavy industrial settings. Candidates should be proficient in AutoCAD and CAD tools, with field verification experience at active plant sites.

Occasional travel may be required to client sites for inspections and data gathering. Essential functions include preparing drawings, reviewing designs, mentoring junior designers, and coordinating with interdisciplinary

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; AS degree preferred.
• 5+ years civil/structural drafting and design in heavy industrial environments.
• Proficient with AutoCAD 2D, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit; CAD software knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural inspections of existing facility steel structures and fireproofing per Orbital guidelines.
• Prepare conceptual drawings, sketches and material take-offs of concrete and steel.
• Create detailed design drawings for layouts including foundation design and piping/drainage.
• Review vendor shop/fabrication drawings and update CAD drawings from redlines.
• Collaborate across civil/structural/mechanical/electrical teams; mentor junior designers.
• Attend project meetings; ensure CAD standards accuracy and efficiency.
