Job summary

The American Civil Liberties Union of Montana (ACLU of Montana) invites current law students to apply for its summer Legal Internship Program. Interns will assist the Legal Department on civil rights matters, work with attorneys, and gain exposure to litigation and public education materials in Montana.

The program emphasizes equity, diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism, with a fully remote arrangement across Montana and a modest compensation package.

Qualifications

• Commitment to public interest law and civil rights and liberties.
• Enrollment in law school and completion of the first year before the internship commences.
• Experience with equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging with anti-racist, anti-colonialist understandings.

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal research
• Draft memoranda, public records requests, complaints, or other legal documents
• Assist with litigation prospect research
• Draft materials for public education
