Job summary

ACLU - National Office in New York, NY seeks a Summer Legal Intern for the Racial Justice Program. The internship is full-time for 10 weeks and may be remote or hybrid. Applicants must be current law students and based in the U.S. for the duration.

Ideal candidates will conduct legal research, review discovery, and draft memos while supporting ongoing litigation and advocacy. A stipend of $24/hour is provided to eligible students.

Qualifications

• Must currently be matriculated in a U.S. law school.
• Must be based in the United States for the entire internship.
• Strong research, writing, and verbal skills.
• Commitment to public interest law and civil liberties.
• Commitment to equity, inclusion and belonging in work.

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal and factual research.
• Review and code discovery productions.
• Produce and edit memos, research reports, drafts of briefing, etc.
• Participate in team meetings.
• Participate in meetings with clients, as available.
