Farmers Insurance is seeking a Legal Assistant to support the Washington Staff Counsel team in a virtual, remote capacity. The role focuses on secretarial and legal tasks for assigned attorneys, with supervision from leadership.

Responsibilities include managing calendars, drafting pleadings, coordinating appearances, handling client inquiries, and maintaining knowledge of court rules and deadlines. Requires 1–3 years in civil litigation and a high school diploma.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–3 years experience in civil litigation as a legal administration clerk, secretary, or legal assistant required.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintains schedules and calendar for assigned attorney(s).
• Composes a variety of correspondence, pleadings and various legal forms.
• Coordinates time and location of multi-party appearances, including depositions, arbitrations, mediations, IME’s meetings and site inspections.
• Answers telephone calls, emails and handles client inquiries.
• Receives and processes incoming mail.
• Contacts clients, witnesses, court reporters, interpreters, claims personnel, and others to confirm scheduled appearances as instructed by assigned attorney(s).
• Maintains a thorough knowledge and keeps up-to-date with court rules and legal deadlines.
