Job summary

VC is a fully remote law firm based out of Charlotte, North Carolina, seeking a Civil Litigation & Business Law Associate Attorney. You will handle a mixed caseload, work independently with support from a collaborative team, and set your schedule while delivering straightforward legal solutions.

The role emphasizes independence, strong problem-solving, and the ability to attend depositions and court events as needed from a home office.

Qualifications

• Must pass the North Carolina Bar Examination and be licensed to practice law in North Carolina.
• 0-3 years of legal experience in civil litigation and transactional business law
• Reside in the Charlotte, NC metro area and attend events in person as needed
• Ability to work effectively from home
• Proficiency with Mac OS, Adobe, Outlook, Zoom, Microsoft Word, and other office tech
• Ability to work independently or in a team with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of 10-50 open matters across civil litigation and business transactional work.
• Make strategic decisions in clients' litigation and business matters
• Prepare and serve pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and notices
• Schedule and attend trials, hearings, depositions, mediations, and other proceedings
• Draft, review, and negotiate business agreements and other transactional documents
• Counsel businesses and owners on transactions, governance, operations, and risk management
• Communicate directly with clients and provide practical, straightforward legal guidance
• Attend firm events and meetings
