Job summary

Affirm, Inc. is hiring for a hands-on, mid-level backend engineer in the information security domain. You will build and maintain backend services powering registration, login, authorization, and account lifecycles for B2C and B2B experiences.

You’ll work with Okta, Auth0, and ForgeRock, translating product requirements into secure, scalable software while collaborating with cross-functional teams. Remote-first with flexibility; strong focus on security and reliability.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Python or Kotlin with ability to write, test, and debug software.
• Foundational backend knowledge: APIs, data structures, databases, and version control.
• Interest in authentication and CIAM platforms is a plus, not required.
• Willingness to learn via mentorship and code reviews.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship customer-facing authentication features, including MFA and device binding.
• Develop backend services and APIs in Python or Kotlin.
• Integrate with identity platforms (Okta, Auth0, ForgeRock) for web, mobile, and partner apps.
• Contribute to design, write readable code and tests, review code, and deploy to production.
• Debug services, improve reliability, and use logs/metrics to understand production behavior.
• Collaborate with engineers, product, and security teams to grow secure software practices.
