Qualifications

• Fluency in Chin Matu and English.
• Ability to assess regional/accent differences for effective communication.
• Excellent listening, retention and note-taking for high-accuracy interpretation.
• Must be at least 18 and legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Independent contractor status with no employee benefits.

Responsibilities

• Respond to interpreting sessions promptly in a friendly and professional manner.
• Render correct concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocol.
• Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation and polite expressions.
• Maintain a professional demeanor and neutrality at all times.
• Remain calm during sessions, especially in emergency situations (e.g., 911 calls).
• Maintain punctuality and availability during work hours.
• Follow client instructions to meet expectations while respecting LEP.
