Job summary

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Chin Hakha-English phone interpreter to work from home in the United States. This independent contractor role involves handling on-demand calls across healthcare, government, finance and more, translating verbally rather than written translation.

Essential duties include prompt interpretation, maintaining confidentiality and cultural sensitivity, and handling high-pressure calls—often with emotional content—while using company-provided tools in a quiet home

Qualifications

• Fluency in Chin Hakha and English with cultural dynamics understood.
• Strong listening, retention and note-taking skills for accurate interpretation.
• Must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Experience in language-related fields preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to interpreting sessions promptly in a friendly, professional manner.
• Render correct concepts using established interpretation protocol.
• Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation and etiquette.
• Maintain professionalism and cultural sensitivity throughout sessions.
• Remain calm during emotional or emergency calls and manage call volumes.
