Job summary

Washington State Department of Ecology, Manchester Environmental Laboratory, is seeking a Chemist 3 to perform organic analyses on water, soil, tissue and consumer products. Hybrid schedule with in-office and telework options; 3–5 days in the office.

Must meet QA/QC and data integrity standards and support data review and reporting. Responsibilities include using GC‑ECD/GC‑FID/GC‑MS, maintaining instruments, and contributing to method development.

Qualifications

• 8 years of experience and/or education related to the duties of the position.

Responsibilities

• Perform chemical analysis on water, soil, tissue and consumer product samples for pesticides, PCBs, VOCs, fuels.
• Ensure data meets QC criteria and take corrective actions.
• Review analytical data packages for completeness and accuracy.
• Troubleshoot analytical and preparation issues as needed.
• Serve as backup chemist for analyses as needed.
• Ensure optimal instrument performance and routine maintenance.
