Job summary

The Washington State Department of Ecology seeks two Environmental Laboratory Auditor - Inorganic Chemistry (Chemist 3) to join the Environmental Assessment Program in Manchester, WA. You will audit laboratories, focusing on inorganic chemistry and wastewater testing, to ensure accurate, defensible data.

The role involves on-site audits, reporting, and collaboration with wastewater facilities; some fieldwork statewide, with possible telework after training.

Qualifications

• Eight years of experience and/or education related to the duties of the position.
• Expertise in inorganic chemistry and QA/QC review of laboratory data.
• Strong written and verbal communication for collaboration with labs.
• Ability to explain accreditation standards and provide guidance.

Responsibilities

• Process applications for laboratory accreditation.
• Review QA manuals, SOPs, data, and performance testing results for accreditation.
• Recommend accreditation decisions to the Laboratory Accreditation Unit supervisor.
• Prepare audit reports and corrective action recommendations.
• Conduct on-site and some virtual audits; some fieldwork statewide.
