Job summary

TechLaw Consultants in Port Orchard, WA is seeking an Analytical Chemist to join our lab team to perform organic analyses on water, sediment, and soil samples using GC/GC-MS and EPA methods. You will report findings with accuracy and maintain GLP discipline.

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s in environmental science or chemistry, with strong data interpretation and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced onsite environment in Port Orchard, WA.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field
• Legal U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain security clearances
• Experience analyzing water, sediment, and soil samples for organic parameters
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and data interpretation
• Strong written and oral communication and meeting deadlines

Responsibilities

• Conduct organic analyses using GC, GC/MS and EPA methods
• Prepare and analyze environmental samples for VOCs, hydrocarbons, and wet chemistry
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate instrumentation
• Prepare reagents and analytical standards
• Interpret data and upload results to LIMS for reporting
• Check backlog and schedule workload with laboratory supervisors
• Support general lab operations and inventory management
• Maintain GLP-compliant, clean lab workspace

Who are YOU?

You are an Analytical Chemist with at least three years of experience providing analysis of water, sediment and soil samples for various organic parameters. You will be located near the Manchester Environmental Laboratory in Port Orchard, WA.

Qualifications: What does your day/week look like?

• Conduct organic analyses utilizing GC, GC/MS instrumentation and USEPA methodologies.
• Preparation and analysis of environmental samples for semi-volatile organic compounds, gas and diesel range hydrocarbons, and wet chemistry analysis.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate instrumentation.
• Prepare reagents and analytical standards.
• Interpret and evaluate data and upload results to LIMS for a final report.
• Check backlog of samples and schedule workload accordingly.
• Work independently on administrative and technical projects assigned by laboratory supervisors.
• Support general lab operations and functions, including monitoring and requesting supplies and materials to maintain lab supply inventory.
• Track inventory of supplies and reagents to ensure no interruption of workflow.
• You will maintain a clean and organized laboratory work area that adheres to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).

• A bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related science field
• Legal U.S. citizenship, with ability to obtain and maintain state and federal security clearances
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
• Good written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, attention to detail and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and changing environment; flexible and quickly adaptable to changing priorities
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• A valid driver’s license and safe driving record
