Job summary

Banner Health is seeking a Charge Specialist to join the Revenue Integrity team. The role focuses on auditing and capturing charges for surgical and outpatient services, ensuring accurate Billing and Coding practices across multiple facilities.

This remote position offers flexibility to schedule an 8-hour shift between 5am and 7pm, Monday through Friday, with training provided. Ideal candidates have 2+ years in charge capture, Excel proficiency, and knowledge of CPT/HCPCS coding principles.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of related charge capture or clinical coding experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and coding and charging requirements.
• Strong reading, interpretive, and communication skills.
• Proficient with office software and EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Assigns appropriate billing codes for acute care, periop, or outpatient units system-wide.
• Evaluates medical records and provider notes to determine appropriate procedure codes.
• Uses CDM and coding software to create billings for payors.
• Identify opportunities for improvement in clinical documentation and share with Revenue Integrity staff.
• Work with other charging/coding staff to maintain consistency and accuracy.
