Job summary

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) seeks a Certified Procedural Coding Specialist for a remote role in the FIN | CORE Coding - PB OBGyn department. You will read health records to identify codes for outpatient encounters and ensure accurate CPT/ICD-10 coding.

Responsibilities include coding accuracy, data entry review, and prioritizing work queues. Qualifications include a HS diploma, CPT/ICD-10 understanding, and one of the listed certifications; remote work offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Must have an understanding of CPT and ICD-10.
• One of the following certifications: CCA, CCS, CPC, RHIT, or RHIA.

Responsibilities

• Assess the adequacy of health record documentation to support all codes.
• Apply knowledge of anatomy, disease processes, pharmacology, and terminology to assign codes.
• Maintain understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding classification systems.
• Review and perform data charge entries to hospital and physician billing systems for outpatient visits.
• Organize work to ensure queues are reviewed and prioritized daily.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
