The position requires a Florida Certified Court Interpreter certification at hire, a Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in English or target language) or four years of court-related interpreting experience,

Qualifications

• Certified Court Interpreter certification required at hire
• Bachelor’s degree in English or target language, or closely related field, and 2–4 years of legal court interpreting experience
• Four years of legal court-related interpreting experience
• Familiarity with judicial vocabulary and proceedings
• Ability to translate and interpret fluently between English and target language (Creole among required languages)
• General computer skills and familiarity with digital sound files and media players

Responsibilities

• Translate verbal and written communications between Creole (target language) and English.
• Appear in court as expert witness to introduce translations into evidence.
• Certify translations for accuracy.
• Review translated material with parties involved in a case.
• Interpret for judges, attorneys, witnesses, and other court personnel in various proceedings.
• May work weekends, overtime, and travel between courthouse locations.
• Perform related duties as required.
