Job summary

WashU is seeking a Certified Coder for a fully remote role in the Department of Medicine's Business Office - Appeals. The successful candidate will review medical records, assign CPT and ICD-10 codes, and coordinate with physicians to secure signatures.

Qualifications include AHIMA or AAPC credentials such as CPC/CCS, with knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding. Prior coding experience is preferred but not required, and the position offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Must have AHIMA or AAPC coding credentials (CCA/CCS/CCS-P or CPC family).
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
• Education/experience aligned with medical coding; associate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review documentation to assign correct CPT and ICD-10 codes.
• Meet with physicians to review documentation and secure signatures.
• Assist with physician coding awareness and follow-up on cases.
• Prepare case reports and initiate billing follow-up.
