Job summary

Jefferson Health seeks a CDI Specialist to review medical records, improve documentation and guide clinicians in accurate coding. You will write compliant queries, collaborate with coders, and educate physicians and nursing staff to reflect severity of illness and care provided.

The role supports remote home-based work, with emphasis on CMS and regulatory standards, HIPAA, and ongoing CDI process improvement. A nursing/HIIM background and CDI certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• BSN or related degree required.
• CCDS/CDIP preferred or will be considered after hire.
• RHIA/RHIT with CCS, MD or DO considered.
• CCDS within 6 months of hire for eligible candidates.

Responsibilities

• Review records to ensure documentation supports illness severity and outcomes.
• Prepare compliant queries to clarify missing information.
• Collaborate with coding staff for complete discharge diagnoses.
• Educate physicians and staff on documentation best practices.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and work in remote environment.
