Job summary

TEKsystems seeks a Category Manager to blend data, strategy, negotiation, and relationship-building to shape procurement strategy. You will manage spend categories from strategy to execution, partnering with internal stakeholders and suppliers to uncover savings, reduce risk, and improve supplier performance.

You will analyze spend data and market intelligence to guide sourcing decisions, lead RFPs/RFIs, and support contract development and negotiations with strong category expertise.

Qualifications

• 24+ years of experience in sourcing, procurement, category management or related area.
• Understanding of strategic sourcing practices and supplier evaluation methods.
• Experience conducting or supporting RFPs, RFIs, negotiations and competitive sourcing events.
• Ability to analyze spend data, supplier proposals, pricing structures and market trends.

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned spend categories from strategy through execution and monitor supplier performance.
• Develop and execute category strategies aligned to business and financial objectives.
• Lead sourcing events like RFPs/RFIs for moderately complex products/services.
• Evaluate proposals, pricing and terms to support sourcing recommendations.
• Lead supplier negotiations to achieve favorable pricing and terms.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand requirements and craft sourcing strategies.
• Support contract development with supplier data and market intelligence.
• Identify risks and ensure procurement activities comply with policies.
• Maintain category plans, supplier records, and contract information in systems.
