Job summary

Justrite Safety Group is seeking an AR/Cash Application professional to join our Finance team in Illinois. You will process high-volume payments, review remittance details, and ensure accurate application to invoices while maintaining clean ledgers and supporting month-end close.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in Cash Application, Accounts Receivable, or related accounting function.
• Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Strong understanding of AR processes and customer payment methods.
• Ability to work independently and meet daily deadlines.
• Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Possess a high sense of urgency and be detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Process high-volume payments by identifying and posting daily funds from lockboxes, ACH transfers, wire payments, and credit card portals.
• Review remittance advice and interpret payment documentation to apply payments to invoices.
• Balance daily cash receipts against bank deposits to ensure accuracy.
• Resolve short-payments by researching and coding differences (discounts, shortages, tax disputes).
• Track unapplied cash and maintain a clean ledger; contact customers or internal teams to clarify.
• Reconcile accounts by cleaning up customer accounts and applying old credits to open balances.
• Support A/R collections by coordinating with AR Specialists on balances and disputes.
• Assist month-end close by ensuring all cash is posted by month-end.
• Maintain audit trails and documentation for compliance and internal controls.
• Apply daily customer payments to invoices (checks, ACH, wire, cards, lockbox).
• Prepare and maintain documentation for audits and internal controls.
• Collaborate with Customer Service, Credit & Collections, and Sales to resolve issues.
• Identify and suggest process improvements for cash application accuracy and efficiency.
