Job summary

University of California San Diego is seeking a PROS Career Coach within the School of Public Health to support adults impacted by the criminal justice system in a remote, contract role.

The position uses the UCSD PROS Career Coaching curriculum to guide clients in job search, resume building, interview techniques, and employment planning, with an emphasis on accessibility and data-driven progress tracking.

Qualifications

• Eight (8) years of related experience, education/training, or a Masters degree in counseling or related career coaching credential and/or education as it relates to working with adults impacted by the criminal justice system as well as those living with mental illness or physical disabilities plus two (2) years relevant experience in functional career advising experience or industry experience.
• Strong experience providing one‑on‑one individualized career counseling, providing career planning and job hunting guidance and advice.
• Experience developing rapport with clients tracking client progress from initial intake through job acceptance.
• Experience advising clients in the selection of appropriate career goals via exploration of professional interests, skills, previous employment background, industry job prospects, and local and global employment opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Guide clients through job search including resume writing, interview skills, and job search strategies.
• Mentor clients on daily technology use for employment seeking and develop individualized action plans.
• Interact with employers to plan and conduct visits and recruit employer participation in workshops or panels.
