Job summary

Omega Healthcare Management Services is seeking an Oncology Data Specialist to accurately abstract cancer cases from electronic medical records into registry software. You will ensure compliance with state, national, and client reporting standards and support case finding, follow-up, tumor boards, and reporting duties.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of oncology data abstraction experience, ODS-C certification, and strong knowledge of ICD-O and SEER/Cancer Registry practices.

Qualifications

• Three+ years of oncology data abstraction experience.
• Abstracted data within the past year.
• ODS-C credential is required.
• RHIA/RHIT is preferred.
• Familiar with HIPAA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily abstraction of cancer cases into the registry database.
• Run and resolve edits prior to submission to state registry and NCDB.
• Apply CoC and State data standards for reportable cases.
• Request missing treatment data from physicians when needed.
• Submit cases to the State Central Registry as requested.
• Maintain logs and suspense systems for registry activities.
• Protect patient data according to privacy policies.
