Job summary

Matrix Camps, Logistics & Aviation seeks a Second Cook to support food service at a remote mining camp near Winnemucca, NV. You’ll assist with breakfast, lunch, and dinner for about 150 residents, with from-scratch cooking and desserts production as provided by Matrix.

The rotation is 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off. The role requires strong cooking skills, strict food safety practices, and the ability to work collaboratively with the kitchen team in a remote/site environment.

Qualifications

• Must have experience cooking for large groups in a remote/mining camp setting.
• Strong knowledge of food safety practices including safe storage, sanitation and handling.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a kitchen team in remote/site conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with breakfast, lunch, and dinner service for ~150 residents.
• Support from-scratch cooking and baking/desserts production as provided by Matrix.
• Prepare food according to recipes, portioning standards, and production schedules.
• Maintain strict food safety and sanitation standards in kitchen and storage areas.
• Help with food inventory: labeling, storage, and FIFO rotation.
• Support the 1st Cook with kitchen organization, prep lists, and team workflow.
• Follow directions promptly with a safety-first attitude.
