Job summary

Matrix Camps, Logistics & Aviation is seeking an experienced First Cook to support food service at a remote mining camp near Winnemucca, Nevada. You’ll lead hands-on meal preparation and baking from scratch for about 150 residents, with a focus on safety and teamwork.

Responsibilities include preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner, planning menus within budget, managing inventory, and training kitchen staff to keep production running smoothly in a rotational schedule (3 weeks on / 3 weeks off).

Qualifications

• Three years remote camp experience required.
• From-scratch cooking and baking/desserts.
• Food safety certificates required.
• Ability to lead, train, and coach kitchen staff.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner for ~150 residents with from-scratch cooking.
• Plan menus to meet resident preferences and dietary needs within budgeted costs.
• Manage food inventory, FIFO rotation, labeling per safety plan.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized kitchen with a team-first approach.
• Train, support, and supervise kitchen staff to keep production running smoothly.
