Job summary

Plant Prefab is seeking an experienced CAD Engineer to model structures and components for the Plant Building System. You will join a small, fast-growing engineering team and produce shop drawings, takeoffs, machine files, and executable BOMs.

The role collaborates with factory management to improve virtual fabrication, driving efficiency and accuracy. The position is remote but limited to California residents and requires quarterly visits to Tejon Ranch, CA.

Qualifications

• B.S. in engineering, architecture, building science, or related technical discipline.
• Minimum of four years' experience in building design.
• Minimum of three years' experience in 3D modeling using CadWork.
• Experience creating coordination plans, shop drawings, and installation manuals.
• Able to interpret construction documents and coordinate with fabrication teams.
• Strong analytical and time management skills; able to work in a startup pace.
• Knowledge of modular/panelized construction and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to mentor staff.

Responsibilities

• Integrate Revit files and PDF plans to CAD/CAM data.
• Create fully executable BOMs and cut lists for material ordering.
• Produce construction drawings for production and cost estimation.
• Draft and maintain CAD SOPs to improve productivity.
• Develop virtual build processes from design-for-manufacture to production.
• Establish quality control protocols for the virtual build process.
• Lead R&D efforts for process improvements.
• Communicate with managers, suppliers, and contractors.
• Present Plant Virtual Build/CAD outputs for business needs.
• Ensure adherence to Plant SOPs and sustainability goals.
