Job summary

The State of Indiana invites applicants for a Budget Analyst role within the Department of Child Services. The position focuses on managing recurring financial reports, ledger integrity, and grant tracking in a remote capacity, with occasional residency-based office access.

You will support budgeting processes, conduct financial analyses, and prepare cost impact statements to guide policy and program decisions. A degree is not required if extensive accounting/financial experience is present.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or HSE is acceptable with significant related experience (8+ years).
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in diverse settings.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tooling.
• Experience with PeopleSoft Financials/HR modules and reporting tools.
• Ability to create, modify, and interpret financial queries and reports.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality monitoring of budgets, reporting and utilization of assigned federal and state grants.
• Perform strategic financial analysis to support procurement, contracting, personnel, cost allocation, and fiscal strategy.
• Assist with agency budget development and cascading goal alignment.
• Create fiscal impact statements and cost-benefit analyses for policy changes.
• Develop projections and analytic reports to inform division and agency goals.
• Ensure internal controls and compliance across processes.
