Job summary

MedSchoolCoach is seeking a BS/MD Advisor to mentor high school students through the application process, crafting compelling essays, and developing strategic school lists.

You will work alongside a college advisor, guiding students from initial planning to submission, with emphasis on personal statements and interview preparation. Remote position with flexible hours to support year-round client work.

Qualifications

• MD/DO physician with direct medical program completion.
• Experience mentoring students applying to BS/MD or BS/DO programs.
• Strong editing and writing for essays and applications.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to build trust with students and families.
• Admissions committee experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop a strong working relationship with the college advisor and support the applicant through the BS/MD application process.
• Evaluate candidacy of high school students for BS/MD programs including GPA, test scores, courses, activities, and experiences.
• Edit the applicant's BS/MD personal statement and BS/MD supplemental essays.
• Create a customized BS/MD school list aligned with the student’s candidacy, goals, and preferences.
• Prepare students for admissions interviews and coach them through timelines and deadlines.
• Manage family expectations and involve them as part of the support team.
• Assist students with developing personal responsibility and time management.
• Offer expertise and guidance on key application questions and situations.
