Job summary

Trail CPA, a remote-first firm serving small businesses, seeks an experienced Bookkeeper to join our Client Accounting Services team on a full-time, remote basis. You’ll be the day-to-day contact for a portfolio of clients, handling the full cycle of bookkeeping and monthly close.

Ideal candidates have 2–5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, strong QuickBooks Online and Excel skills, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years bookkeeping/accounting experience, prefer public accounting.
• Client-facing role with regular emails and client meetings.
• Hands-on month-end close and year-end review experience.
• Strong knowledge of QuickBooks Online and Excel.
• Experience with Xero and QuickBooks Desktop is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with clients and coworkers.
• Tech-savvy and quick to learn new tools.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary contact for a portfolio of clients via email and meetings.
• Perform monthly close and year-end reviews for clients.
• Manage accounts payable: entry, coding and payments.
• Manage accounts receivable: invoicing, collections, cash application.
• Prepare and file sales tax returns.
• Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
• Proactively communicate with clients and internal team members.
• Collaborate to improve processes.
• Data entry and general bookkeeping tasks.
