Job summary

We are a well‑funded, late‑stage medical device startup focused on wearable biosensors and physiological data. We seek a hands‑on engineer to own the development and deployment of biosignal processing algorithms on constrained embedded hardware.

The role emphasizes rapid learning, independent work, and collaboration with a talented team across hardware, firmware, and clinical areas. You will design signal processing and ML pipelines for wearable data, using MATLAB and Python, and work toward

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics (Graduate/Doctorate preferred).
  • Hands‑on experience developing signal processing or machine learning algorithms for wearable biosensor data, especially PPG.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB and Python (NumPy, SciPy, scikit‑learn).
  • Experience deploying embedded ML on ARM Cortex‑M processors (nRF52840 or similar), including quantization and CMSIS‑DSP/CMSIS‑NN integration.
  • Strong statistical knowledge and ability to communicate results clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement biosignal processing algorithms for PPG, ECG, body temperature, and inertial sensor data for ARM Cortex‑M embedded hardware.
  • Own the full ML development pipeline: feature engineering, model selection and bake‑off, sensor ablation, and quantized model deployment using CMSIS‑DSP and CMSIS‑NN.
  • Develop and execute data collection protocols with hardware/firmware teams, including multi‑subject labeling and leakage‑safe cross‑validation.
  • Apply rigorous statistical methods: holdout validation, Shapley‑value sensor ablation, significance testing, and pre‑registered thresholds.
  • Collaborate using MATLAB and Python for prototyping, validation, and documentation in support of the design history file.
  • Coordinate with hardware, firmware, and clinical teams to define sensor integration requirements and verification benchmarks.
