Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Remote Senior Data Scientist to join a cutting-edge Bioinformatics team. You will analyze large biological datasets, build predictive models, and extract insights to guide research decisions in a remote-first environment across time zones.

The role requires strong statistical and ML expertise, programming in Python or R, and collaboration with researchers worldwide to advance understanding of biological processes.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
• 6+ years of professional experience in data science with emphasis on bioinformatics or computational biology.
• Proficiency in Python or R and familiarity with data science libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Strong knowledge of statistical modeling and ML algorithms applied to biological data.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy ML models for genomic, proteomic, and other biological datasets.
• Perform data mining, statistical analysis, and data visualization to identify patterns relevant to research goals.
• Collaborate with biologists and computational biologists to translate questions into data science problems.
• Build and maintain robust data pipelines and analytical frameworks for ongoing research.
• Communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences via reports and presentations.
• Stay current with advances in data science and bioinformatics and champion their adoption.
