Job summary

OnTrac is seeking a Software Engineer (Bioinformatics Pipelines) to join a 12–18 month contractor program supporting a genomics unit in the United States. The role focuses on engineering pipelines, software quality, performance, automation, and operational support, with delivery across an on-prem HPC environment and lab-system integrations.

The ideal candidate will have production experience with Python, Bash, and Nextflow, and be able to ramp up quickly within an agile team environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with bioinformatics pipeline engineering in production.
• Experience developing, tuning, and operating pipelines in an on-premise HPC environment.
• Ability to work in an agile team and ramp up quickly.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve genomics pipelines running in the customer’s on-premise HPC environment.
• Tune pipeline performance and automate pipeline operations.
• Provide operational support for pipelines including troubleshooting failures and data movement/delivery issues.
• Implement and maintain integrations between pipelines and laboratory systems and sequencing instruments (Illumina, Oxford Nanopore, PacBio).
• Collaborate as a full member of an agile pipeline team for the engagement.
