Job summary

InStride Health is hiring a Billing Coordinator for its fully virtual care delivery model. You’ll manage front-end and back-end billing, submit claims, and monitor denials while collaborating with care teams and families.

The role emphasizes empathy, clear communication, and adherence to HIPAA. Remote work offers flexibility with strong cross-functional collaboration and a focus on accurate revenue cycle management.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of healthcare billing experience; behavioral health or telehealth experience strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, or a related field preferred.
• Working knowledge of insurance payor policies, billing guidelines, and claims submission requirements.
• Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 codes and how they impact billing and reimbursement.
• Experience with billing platforms; Mahler, Apero, or similar RCM software preferred.
• Proficiency in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office, particularly spreadsheets.
• Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex insurance concepts into clear language for families.
• Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while seeking guidance when needed.
• Collaborative mindset with comfort partnering across teams and supporting patients and families with a customer-service orientation.

Responsibilities

• Review clinical documentation to support accurate charge entry in the billing system according to payor requirements.
• Monitor for missing or delayed charges and support timely submission within payor filing limits.
• Submit insurance claims and monitor status to ensure compliance with payor guidelines.
• Identify and correct claim errors, rejections, and denials to support a clean billing cycle.
• Assist with denial resolution, including investigation, correction, resubmission, and follow-up.
• Identify denial trends and provide observations to improve clean claim rates.
• Explain insurance processing, copays, deductibles, and balances to families with empathy.
• Assist with self-pay billing, patient statements, and payment plans.
• Support accounts receivable monitoring through reporting and reconciliation.
• Use billing reports to manage daily workflows and prioritize follow-ups.
• Collaborate with Patient Experience and clinical teams to resolve coverage questions and provide billing education.
