Job summary

UChicago Medicine is seeking a Billing Analyst I to support Lab Administration. You will monitor billing operations for defined service lines, verify charges, and collaborate with leadership to ensure accurate revenue capture in a primarily remote role with occasional on-site work in Hyde Park.

Responsibilities include posting Supply and Facility charges within four days of service, complying with CPT/ICD-9 coding standards, and helping resolve charge disputes while coordinating with Nursing,

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• 1–3 years’ experience with hospital billing operations.
• Knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding; certification within 12 months of hire (CPC, RHIT, RHIA).
• Medical terminology coursework completed.
• Familiarity with large healthcare information systems.
• Experience with PC-based spreadsheets and word processing.
• Analytical with excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to manage interpersonal relationships and multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Ensures all Supply and Facility charges are posted within 4 days of the date of service for assigned service lines or groups.
• Follows departmental policies, procedures, and billing regulations such as LMRPs, APCs, coding and documentation.
• Interfaces with Nursing, Vendors, and Supply Chain to reconcile discrepancies in charge and documentation.
• Works with Supply Chain to enter new product information to ensure correct accounts and codes.
• Assists in resolution of charge disputes.
• Performs other duties related to revenue capture and reimbursement as assigned.
