Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a BESS Engineer II to design, develop, and implement battery energy storage projects. The role requires solid power systems knowledge and experience with BESS components, ensuring performance, reliability, and safety across projects.

The position is fully remote with interview-based location discussions; travel may be required. Strong collaboration with internal teams and external partners is essential to deliver high-quality BESS solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of electrical engineering experience with focus on BESS, renewables, or power systems.
• Knowledge of design, integration, and optimization of battery energy storage systems; including lithium-ion batteries, inverters, BMS, and grid interconnection equipment.
• Knowledge of BESS control strategies, algorithms, and optimization software.
• Experience with power system analysis (PSS/E, PSCAD) and simulation tools.
• Working knowledge of NEC, IEEE, IBC, NFPA, utility standards.

Responsibilities

• Review the design and engineering of battery energy storage systems (BESS) ensuring compliance with contracts, utilities, and AHJ requirements with minimal supervision.
• Serve as a technical contributor across electrical, civil, structural, SCADA, and HV engineering scopes on assigned projects.
• Manage Engineers of Record and third-party engineering partners to ensure scope clarity and timely delivery.
• Coordinate with fire protection engineers and local fire departments/AHJ’s.
• Develop and review technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for BESS components to support procurement activities.
