Job summary

ReNew Life Recovery Services in Danville, Virginia, is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our behavioral health and substance use treatment team. You will conduct nursing assessments, administer medications, and collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and counselors to support safe, coordinated care.

The role emphasizes teamwork, clinical quality, and person-centered care, with a focus on co-occurring mental health and substance use conditions.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Virginia RN license or qualifying multistate compact license.
• Graduate of an approved registered nursing program.
• Current BLS certification.
• 2-5 years of nursing experience preferred.
• Strong assessment and clinical judgment skills.
• Experience with medication administration and patient education.
• Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary behavioral health team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct nursing assessments and monitor physical and behavioral health needs.
• Administer medications and provide medication education within scope of practice.
• Monitor medication effectiveness, side effects, and changes in client condition.
• Support psychiatric and medical providers with ongoing clinical monitoring.
• Provide health education and wellness support to clients.
• Coordinate medical care, laboratory services, and outside providers.
• Recognize changes in condition and respond to urgent or emergent concerns.
• Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning and case consultation.
• Support clients with co-occurring mental health and substance use conditions.
• Maintain accurate, timely nursing documentation.
• Assist with medication reconciliation and continuity of care during admission, transfer, and discharge.
• Assist with clinical policies, infection-control practices, and medication-management procedures.
• Maintain compliance with Virginia Board of Nursing, DBHDS, DMAS, and CARF requirements.
