Job summary

ReNew Life Recovery Services in Danville, VA, seeks an experienced Virginia-licensed behavioral health professional to serve as Clinical Director for our growing integrated mental health and substance use programs.

You will lead the clinical team, strengthen quality systems, and help shape how services are delivered as ReNew expands. CARF-accredited programs and a strong leadership role await the right candidate.

Qualifications

  • Active Virginia license permitting independent clinical practice.
  • Graduate degree in counseling, social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of behavioral health and/or substance use treatment experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of clinical supervision, program leadership, or management experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical assessment, treatment planning, documentation, and discharge planning.
  • Experience serving individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and team-building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and consultation to behavioral health and substance use treatment staff.
  • Help recruit, develop, and support a strong multidisciplinary clinical team.
  • Oversee assessments, treatment plans, service plans, progress documentation, and discharge planning.
  • Support integrated treatment for individuals with co-occurring disorders.
  • Lead interdisciplinary treatment planning and case consultation.
  • Monitor clinical documentation, quality of care, continuity of care, and regulatory readiness.
  • Collaborate with psychiatric providers, nurses, addiction professionals, QMHPs, peer recovery specialists, and administrative leadership.
  • Support compliance with state licensing, DMAS, and CARF standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement, utilization review, risk management, and program development.
  • Help leadership strengthen and expand clinical programming as the organization grows.

ReNew Life Recovery Services is seeking an experienced Virginia-licensed behavioral health professional to serve as Clinical Director for our growing integrated mental health and substance use programs in Danville.

This is an opportunity for a strong clinical leader who wants to do more than manage an existing program. You will have a meaningful role in developing the clinical team, strengthening quality systems, and helping shape how services are delivered as ReNew continues to grow.

ReNew Life Recovery Services has achieved CARF accreditation across multiple behavioral health service lines, including outpatient treatment, intensive outpatient treatment, partial hospitalization, psychosocial rehabilitation/community integration, peer support, and ambulatory withdrawal management services for applicable adult and youth populations.

What You Will Do
  • Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and consultation to behavioral health and substance use treatment staff
  • Help recruit, develop, and support a strong multidisciplinary clinical team

What We Are Looking For
  • Active Virginia license permitting independent clinical practice
  • Graduate degree in counseling, social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or another qualifying behavioral health discipline
  • 3-5 years of behavioral health and/or substance use treatment experience preferred
  • At least 2 years of clinical supervision, program leadership, or management experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of clinical assessment, treatment planning, documentation, and discharge planning
  • Experience serving individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and team-building skills

Applicable credentials may include LCSW, LPC, LMFT, Licensed Clinical Psychologist, or another qualifying Virginia independent clinical license.

Preferred Experience

We would especially like to meet candidates with experience in:

  • Virginia DBHDS licensed programs
  • Virginia Medicaid and DMAS requirements
  • ASAM based treatment
  • Intensive Outpatient Programs
  • Partial Hospitalization Programs
  • Co-occurring mental health and substance use treatment
  • Clinical supervision of multidisciplinary teams
  • CARF accredited programs
  • Adult and child or adolescent behavioral health services
  • Licensing, audits, accreditation, and regulatory reviews
Compensation

$110,000-$125,000 annually

Compensation is based on licensure, leadership experience, behavioral health and substance use experience, and overall qualifications.
