Job summary

Elevance Health is seeking a Behavioral Health Care Manager I to assess and coordinate psychiatric and substance abuse benefits via telephonic or written review. The role is virtual full-time with required in-person training sessions and possible occasional onsite requirements.

The candidate should hold MA/MS in social work or nursing with 3+ years of relevant experience and an active health-professional license. Ohio licensure is preferred; bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• Requires MA/MS in social work counseling or related behavioral health field or nursing degree and minimum of 3 years of experience with facility-based/outpatient psychiatric and substance abuse treatment.
• Current active unrestricted license such as RN, LCSW, LMSW, LMHC, LPC, LBA (as allowed by state laws) LMFT or Clinical Psychologist to practice as a health professional.
• Licensure is required; BCBA acceptable in states not requiring licensure if UM approvals only and supervision provided.

Responsibilities

• Uses screening criteria and clinical judgment to assess member needs and ensure access to medically necessary behavioral healthcare.
• Refers cases to Peer Reviewers as appropriate.
• Performs psychiatric and substance abuse treatment coordination and monitoring to promote quality member outcomes and efficient use of health benefits.
