Job summary

The Mortgage Law Firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to represent creditors in consumer and commercial bankruptcy matters and support the firm’s bankruptcy practice. You will manage an assigned caseload across Chapter 7, 11, 12, and 13 matters, provide guidance to clients and staff, and ensure compliance with federal and local bankruptcy rules.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Active bar license in good standing in at least one qualifying state.
• Minimum of five years licensed to practice law in at least one of the listed states.
• Experience representing creditors in bankruptcy proceedings.
• Admission to the applicable United States Bankruptcy Court or ability to obtain federal admissions.
• Strong working knowledge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code and Rules.
• Ability to manage a high-volume caseload with limited supervision.
• Strong legal research, analytical, drafting, negotiation, advocacy, and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency with Word, Outlook, Teams, Acrobat, Westlaw, e-filing, and time-billing software.

Responsibilities

• Manage an assigned portfolio of creditor bankruptcy matters from referral through resolution (Chapter 7, 11, 12, 13).
• Analyze petitions, schedules, plans, claims, and notices to identify issues affecting creditor rights and recovery.
• Develop and execute case strategies compliant with law, client instructions, and investor requirements.
• Monitor dockets and deadlines; provide timely updates to clients and teams.
• Review and approve bankruptcy work product before submission; provide guidance to staff.
• Draft, file, and revise motions for relief from stay, claims objections, and other pleadings.
• Represent creditors in contested matters and adversary proceedings.
• Attend hearings and communicate results and deadlines to clients.
