Job summary

H1 is seeking a Software Engineer for the Search Engineering team to support and expand our search infrastructure handling large-scale data and medical information.

You will design high-performance APIs with Node.js and GraphQL, contribute to ingestion, indexing, and retrieval, collaborate with product managers and data engineers, and own parts of the codebase to ensure speed, reliability, and scalability.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong back-end API design with robust testing.
• Experience with Docker/Kubernetes and cloud-native AWS.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain search infrastructure with Elasticsearch-backed pipelines.
• Design high-performance APIs with low latency for search use cases.
• Build end-to-end features using Node.js and GraphQL.
• Collaborate with product managers and data engineers to align on direction.
• Own the search codebase; debug and optimize for stability and scale.
• Write clean, maintainable code and focus on performance.
