Job summary

Atlassian is seeking a Backend Software Engineer for a fully remote role within the US timezone. You will build scalable backend services, review code, and collaborate with cross-functional teams of engineers, product managers, and designers.

You will contribute to high-quality RESTful micro-services, work with modern OO languages, and participate in Agile practices to deliver reliable software. This role emphasizes collaboration, cloud knowledge, and scalable architectures.

Qualifications

• 1-3+ years of backend development experience.
• Experience building scalable RESTful micro-services.
• Proficiency in at least one OO language (Java/Kotlin/Go/Scala/Python).
• Database proficiency in RDBMS or NoSQL databases.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Knowledge of SaaS/PaaS/IaaS with hands-on cloud experience (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Familiarity with cloud architecture patterns.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship features daily in a highly scalable, cross-geo distributed environment.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers in a collaborative environment.
• Review code with readability, testing, reliability, security, and performance in mind.
• Mentor teammates through formal and informal knowledge sharing sessions.
• Ensure visibility, error reporting, and monitoring of backend services.
• Participate in Agile software development.
