Job summary

Fieldwire is hiring a Mid-Level Backend Engineer to join our backend team and help scale our production services for nearly a million end users and thousands of companies. You will build core platform features, ensure security and performance, and contribute to API growth with backward compatibility.

You will work on integrations with external services, improve tooling, and participate in on-call rotation. Candidates should have 3+ years in backend roles and experience with Ruby on Rails or

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
• 3+ years of backend experience.
• Experience with modern web application development and relational databases.
• Knowledge of writing clean, well-tested, modular code.
• Understanding of algorithms and data structures.
• Experience with Ruby on Rails or Rust.
• Working knowledge of Docker and containerization.
• Experience with AWS.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain production services at scale.
• Develop new features to support internal & external customers.
• Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack.
• Develop seamless integrations between Fieldwire and external services and partners to delight our customers.
• Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.
• Releasing a rapidly growing API while ensuring 100% backward compatibility.
• Building services with efficient auto-scaling to handle both peak and non-peak loads.
• Participate in on-call rotation.
