Job summary

Affirm, a remote-first company, is seeking a software engineer to help design and build backend features across the affirm app, card, and partner interfaces. You will work with Product and Credit Risk to deliver reliable systems that scale for merchants and customers nationwide.

You’ll join a talented team, own portions of the codebase, and contribute to thoughtful technical decisions, reviews, and on-call support.

Qualifications

• 1.5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Backend design, development, and deployment across services.
• Proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
• Experience with distributed systems and AWS, MySQL, Kubernetes.
• Ability to read and review others' code and contribute to improvements.
• Strong ownership, feedback-seeking, and collaboration.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for a global team.
• Remote role limited to specific Canadian provinces.

Responsibilities

• Break down large projects into tasks and deliver in phases.
• Collaborate with product, design & analytics on ideation and constraints.
• Support team operations, metrics, and on-call duties.
