Job summary

LaunchDarkly is hiring a Backend Engineer to help power highly available services that deliver software and AI at scale. You will design, build, and operate APIs and distributed systems, partnering with cross-functional teams to translate customer and business needs into simple, scalable solutions.

You will own components from design to production, learn from customer impact, and contribute to systems that run at meaningfully large scale.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building and operating production software.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals including data structures and APIs.
• Experience with a backend language such as Go, Python, or Rust. (Most teams use Go)
• Experience designing reliable, observable services as usage grows.
• Ability to explain technical decisions clearly to technical and non-technical partners.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and operate production services and APIs.
• Lead projects or meaningful components from problem definition through deployment.
• Make tradeoffs across scalability, performance, reliability, and security.
• Improve observability with metrics, logs, traces, and alerting.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Support, and other teams to deliver outcomes.
• Participate in design discussions and code reviews with constructive feedback.
• Investigate production issues and turn lessons into improvements.
• Contribute to a culture of inclusive collaboration and high-quality engineering.
