Job summary

Fieldwire by Hilti is seeking a backend engineer to join our distributed services team. You will build and maintain production services at scale, develop new features for internal and external customers, and debug issues across services and the stack.

Ideal candidates have a BS/MS in CS or equivalent, 3+ years in backend, experience with Ruby on Rails or Rust, Docker and AWS, and a passion for clean, well-tested code and efficient data structures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
• 3+ years of backend experience.
• Experience with modern web app development and relational databases.
• Known for writing clean, well-tested, modular code.
• Solid understanding of algorithms and data structures.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain production services at scale.
• Develop new features for internal & external customers.
• Debug production issues across services and stack.
• Develop integrations with external services and partners.
• Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.
• Release a rapidly growing API with 100% backward compatibility.
• Build services with auto-scaling for peak and non-peak loads.
• Participate in on-call rotation.
