Job summary

VetsEZ is seeking a Backend Engineer for a 100% remote role supporting a large federal government healthcare modernization program. The position focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining secure, scalable backend services, RESTful APIs, and enterprise integration components using Java, Spring Boot, SQL, and modern cloud/CI/CD practices.

You will collaborate with architects, frontend developers, QA, DevSecOps, and product stakeholders within an Agile delivery environment to support sprint,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a technical field.
• 5+ years backend software engineering or enterprise development experience.
• Strong experience in Java, Spring Boot, RESTful services.
• Experience with SQL and data access patterns.
• Experience with CI/CD and Git-based workflows.
• Ability to work in Agile delivery environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services, RESTful APIs, and integration components.
• Implement business logic, data access layers, and secure service-to-service communication.
• Build scalable, secure server-side solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Agile delivery.
• Participate in design reviews, testing, and production support.
• Optimize performance, monitoring, and observability.
• Take on additional tasks to support project success.
