Job summary

Ladders is seeking a Software Engineer, Cash Line to join a leader in Finance & Insurance. The role focuses on building backend systems supporting borrower journeys from offer generation through funding and account management.

You will design scalable APIs, work with product/design/engineering teams, and ensure code quality, testing, and observability while enabling experimentation for better borrower and business outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in CS/engineering.
• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong backend service development experience.
• Proficiency with Python, Java, Kotlin, Ruby, or Node.js.
• Experience with REST or GraphQL and service-oriented architectures.
• Commitment to well-tested, maintainable code and code reviews.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs for borrower journeys and account workflows.
• Develop systems for offer generation, pricing, underwriting, funding, and account management.
• Integrate backend capabilities with borrower-facing apps and partner systems.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to scope and deliver features.
• Write well-tested code and participate in code reviews to raise team standards.
• Improve performance, reliability, and observability across environments.
• Support data-driven experimentation by creating flexible services.
